Phillip Wealth Planners has partnership with 11 life insurance companies. As part of our financial services to our clients, planners are required to provide at least 2 insurance quotations when presenting to client.Phillip Wealth Planners 共与11间寿险公司合作。为了提高理财员的服务水平,我们有义务为顾客提供两份以上的保险估价单供选择。
With this, we are not biased by any brand name. The decisions will be solely based on client's needs, financial ability and preferences. 如此,我们才能避免偏袒某品牌的情况。最终的决定取决于顾客的需求、财务能力及喜好。
Difference insurance companies may have similar products with different features or cost structures. If one wants to look at different companies quotation, the traditional method would be to get quotations from different companies' agent. The difficulty is all will say theirs is the best. 不同的寿险公司往往有类似的保单,各自可能有不同的特点或者成本架构。如果有人想要比较不同寿险公司的估价单的话,传统的做法是从不同寿险公司的代理员得到估价单。难处往往是老王卖瓜,自卖自夸。
For planners, we tried to do the reverse. When agents represent the insurance company, we planners represent the client. We tried to generate quotations using different different systems and make comparison. 对于理财员,我们尝试另类做法。如果说代理员是代表寿险公司,那理财员代表顾客。我们试着用不同公司的软件来做出估价单并进行比较。
If we can offer a product that the client eventually need, it doesn't matter to us which brand he choose. Client can choose based on any criteria he likes. This will be very beneficial to both parties. 如果我们能够提供顾客最终所需要的,那哪一个品牌对我们而言是不重要的。而顾客又可在毫无压力下自由选择。这对双方都是好事。

SPM 生就读 CFP 的绝好消息!

SPM holders who intends to study CFP course finally has a chance to do so. FPAM opens a channel for SPM holders to do so. The pre-requisite for the students is he must be a SPM (or equivalent) and 5 years of full time relevant experience in the financial services industry. SPM生终于有机会就读CFP课程了。FPAM开启了这个机会。学生的先决条件是拥有SPM(或同等)以及在金融领域有5年全职相关经验
What he needs to do is to pass a "Prior Learning Recognition Assessment (PLRA)" exama 2-hour MCQ assessment. No workshops are required for the assessment exams. After passing the PLRA exam, the student may then proceed to take Module 1. 学生需过关"Prior Learning Recognition Assessment (PLRA)"考试,这是一个两小时多选择题的考试。考试前无需参加任何课程。PLRA过关后,学生就可以就读单元一的课程。
This is indeed a very good news. We know there are many agents who wish to advance their career into financial planning industry but was rejected because of academic requirements. 这的确是非常好的消息。我们晓得有许多代理员有兴趣晋升理财行业但是碍于学术条件而无法如愿以偿。
I have checked with our Education Provider on this PLRA exam. He confirms that he can arrange the exam as long as there are a minium of 5 students. 我们的教育提供者确实了他可以安排如此的考试,条件是最少有5位学生。
CFP used to recruits Degrees holders, while RFP recruits Diploma holder from 2017 onwards. This special program for SPM holders to enrol in CFP course is indeed very precious opportunity. Don't miss it. CFP的收生条件是学士生,RFP从2017年开始收取文凭生。如此的SPM生特别收生条件确实是相当宝贵的。可千万别错过了。

Yesterday (23rd Sep 2016), FPAM Johor Chapter organized a Tea Talk on the Introduction & Benefits of Offshore Insurance. Offshore Insurance is quite new a concept to general public in Malaysia - albeit Malaysia has set up Labuan as Offshore Financial Centre many years ago. This type of insurance has been serving High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs).昨天(2016年9月23日),FPAM Johor Chapter举办了一场有关离岸保险简介及益处的下午茶讲座。虽然马来西亚在好多年前已经把纳闽设立为离岸金融中心,但对于许多人而言,离岸保险算是相当新奇的东西。这样的保险其实已经是高净资产人士的其中一项理财工具。
Representatives from two Offshore Insurance Companies - Hansard & Archipelago - were invited to brief on the topics. From the response of audience, it seems true many are unaware of the company, their products, and the benefits. 有两间离岸保险公司的代表,即Hansard及Archipelago,被邀请来为大家解释。从出席者的反应来看,看来大家的确是对这类公司、其产品、其益处相当的不熟悉。
Starting the heat, representative from Hansard showed the chart for USD/MYR. MYR dropped to low level against USD in 1997/98 Asian Financial Crisis and 2014 Oil & Gas Glut. The drop has caused some difficulties for parents sending their children for oversea education. This is mainly due to many parents saved children education fund in MYR only, and when things goes wrong, suddenly their money is not enough for the purpose.打头阵的是Hansard的代表。Hansard打出美金兑马币的图标来展示马币在1997/98年亚洲金融风暴以及2014年油汽价暴跌的期间跌入低水平。这样的跌法对许多打算送孩子们出国进修的父母们造成困扰。这是因为父母们都只以马币来储蓄教育基金,而当状况不妙时,他们的钱就不够用了。

Coupled with the rise of cost of education and living in the target country, the burden will be higher and higher if today's parents are still saving in MYR only. Hansard can help parents to save in 12 different currencies (USD, SGD, HKD, JPY, AUD, GBP etc). Almost 70% of their policyholders chose USD though. (I believe this is because USD is widely accepted anywhere.)再加上对象国的通膨会推高教育费以及生活费,如果父母们仍旧只存马币,他们的负担只有越来越重。Hansard可以为父母们提供12种货币(计有美金、新元、港币、日元、澳币、英镑等)的储蓄。但有7成以上的保险是美金保单。(我想这是因为美金仍是广泛被接受的货币。)
Hansard also explained in some details about their features. In simple term, it is very similar to local investment policies. Some of differences are on the premium allocation, beneficiaries, taxation issues, currencies, investment funds etc. Hansard也解释一些特点。简单地说,他们的保单相当于我们的投资连接保单。不同点在于保费分配、受益人、税务、货币、基金选择等。
Next up on the stage is representative from Archipelago. Archipelago started with some introduction of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA). Then an introduction on Archipelago and their services. Archipelago is purely an Offshore Insurance company where it underwrites international medical card, diabetes policy and short term endowment plan.接着上台的是Archipelago的代表。Archipelago稍微解释了纳闽金融服务局。紧接着介绍公司及各类服务。Archipelago是存离岸保险公司,它代理国际医药卡、糖尿病保单以及短期储蓄保单。

Participants started to get interested when Archipelago mentioned they have a niche Kidnap and Ransom Insurance. They even have specialist to negotiate with kidnappers. Yah, we all think of those in Sabah will be very interested to know of such insurance. Looks like good business opportunity. However, the insurance does not cover those kidnap caused by terrorists.当Archipelago解释它们有绑架及赎款保单时,大家开始变得有点兴趣起来。它们甚至有专家来与绑匪谈判喔。嗨,我们每个人都想到沙巴的居民可能会对这样的保单感兴趣吧。看起来好像是生意良机喔。可惜啊可惜,这保单不保恐怖分子进行的绑架。
Both sessions are allocated with Q&A time. As usual participants are quite quiet. But the moment more and more questions being asked, the time is like never enough. Those who get to answer quiz are presented with prizes too.两个时段都备有问答时间。刚开始大家都有点客气。可是话题一聊开,再多的发问时间似乎都不够。能够正确回答问题的出席者还有礼物拿。
After the official presentation time, it's Tea break time. All participants get to mix around for chit-chat or further discussions. 正式的演讲时间过后就是下午茶时间。所有出席者有机会相聚闲聊或继续讨论。
With the advancement of our country and more and more people becoming middle income group, the need for financial product is getting more complex. Single product, single country product, single currency product may no longer fits the future needs. When oversea travels, studies, and even retirement is getting more popular, the need for different types of financial products is not merely a show of client's needs, it is also a point for a financial planner to open up to learn and adapt. 随着国家进步以及越来越多人民晋升成为中产阶级,对于理财产品的需求也愈发复杂。单纯的某一产品或单一国家产品或单一货币产品似乎已经不能应付未来的需求。当出国旅游、留学、退休(移民)已经越来越普遍的时候,不同的理财产品不仅仅是客户的需求所在,理财专员也应更加开放的学习及接触。
Today, there are still many companies insisting on agency system. Can such system equip their agents to better prepared for future "change"? If we looked at development in developed countries, what we can says is agency system is replaced by fee based financial planner. Thus making agents hard to earn a living. 今天,仍有许多基金或保险公司仍旧固守代理员制度。这样的制度是否能确保代理员有能力应付“被改变”的命运呢?如果我们参照先进国的话,单一产品代理员已经很难生存了,普遍上这些国家都逐渐以收费理财师取代。
Such Offshore Insurance is one very example that must be sold by a licensed financial planner. It cannot be bought by walking-in, or by a bank, or by a insurance company. Is it time to think of your business model? 比如这类的离岸保险就不能通过直接上门或银行或普通保险公司的代理员来购买,它们只能通过受认可的理财专员配售。所以,是时候改变您的生意模式吧?

你是否为退休做了足够的投资以及相关知识?

There was a car workshop that I used to frequent. The owner was a friend of mine. He is an honest guy. Unfortunately, he got a stroke at beginning of the year. Luckily, his two sons are already working.有一间修车店是我常光顾的。修车店老板是朋友来的。老实的老板。很可惜的,去年年尾吧他不幸中风了。庆幸的是,两个儿子已经可以投入职场了。
I believe this is a great blow to him. And to his family, his unexpected retirement did cause some anxiety in their finance. It seems to me he did not saves enough for retirement. And he was not investing even though he owns some banking shares at some point of time.我相信这对他是很大的打击。而对他的家里人而言,意料不到的被退休却也对他们的财务造成一些紧张。看来他似乎没有为退休储蓄足够的基金。而他也没有任何投资,只是在某一段时间点曾有过几张银行股。
I have long believed investing is the only profession that is not hindered by our age. When age catch up with us, we have to retire from any active job. Or we may be willing to work, but our employer may not be. 我早已确信投资是唯一不会被年龄限制的行业。当我们年华老去,我们总得从职场退出。就算我们愿意,老板也可以嫌弃我们手脚慢工钱高。这是再现实不过的事了。
It's different in investing. As long as we have capital, knowledge and movement ability, age can restrict us to invest. But investing is not a fast process, we can get it done by reading a few books. Especially when we look at our friends and relative, we will realized so many of them will tell us shares are not us. 投资就不同了。只要我们有资金、知识和行动能力,年龄根本不能限制我们。但是投资这一回事却不是能一撮而就,抑或是读了几本书就能成功的。尤其是股票投资。只要回头望望身边的亲戚朋友,总有人认为股票不是小市民的玩意儿。
Then, how can we go about with it? Investing is a long term journey. Compared to knowledge, we need a fine temperament. A temperament that doesn't make us to shake when something happen. Normal investor doesn't like to see their investment value goes south. And to stay composed, we need to go though some training. 那么,投资这一码子事到底该如何做?投资其实是一个长期的学习过程。比起知识,它更着重的是性情。一种犹如泰山崩于前,而不动的性情吧。投资者一般都不喜欢看到自己的投资额往下走的情况。要在如此情况下依然悠然自在,必须经过某些淬炼。
For that, we must be trained in the same field. The first loss is always the most hurtful. As time goes by, as we gained more experience and (unfortunately) more losses, we become numb to price changes. 要有如此境界,不可或缺的就要在投资领域里被训练。通常第一次的割肉是最痛的。随着经验的累积和(不幸的)不断割肉,久而久之就练就对价钱变动感到麻木。
And it is while young that we can endure losses for we have long working years to earn back them. As we approach retirement age, we tends to get more and more conservative.而且只要趁年轻我们才经得起亏损,因为我们有足够的工作年岁来转回亏损的部分。当我们越接近退休时,我们一般上会变得愈发保守。
So, as I see my workshop friend's plight, I somehow think he has not invest and learn enough for his retirement. And I wonder has his two sons ever thought about such thing, now.当我看好修车店朋友的遭遇时,我认为他并没有为退休做足投资或学习投资知识。我也好奇他的儿子们是否曾想过改变?
It is my wish that during retirement age, I want to be active in investing. Unless I am bedridden or I have lost my movement ability, then it's another story.我的梦想是退休时依然可以继续投资。除非我不幸卧榻病床或失去行动能力,那就另当别论。
Let's learn knowledge about investments and invest when we are still working. It may take few years for us to see results. Time is our friend. There are many types of investments, and many type investing skills in stocks alone. 让我们都学习投资并在趁有工作能力时开始投资。可能要等上好几年才会看到成绩。但时间是我们的伙伴。市面上有许许多多的投资工具。单就股票而言就有许多种投资方式。
Go and try the skills that looks interesting to you. For we learn the most when we fail. Some of my client like more of trading, while some go for fundamental. And they are comfortable with it. 尽量去尝试看起来有意思的方式。因为我们失败是成功之母啊。我们顾客群当中,有些喜欢偏向交易性质,有些偏向基本面投资方式。但他们都感到自在。
As we invest long enough, we will cherish our capital more and more. Anyhow, we do not want to over-expose our capital to excessive loss. And by the time come retirement, hopefully we all have the admirable knowledge and temperament to invest successfully. 当我们投资得越久,我们应该会愈发珍惜我们的资本。无论如何,我们总不愿把资本陷在不必要的风险里头。希望到那一天,我们永远令人羡慕的投资知识和性情。而我们的投资也是成功的。
